Today many divers head to warm tropical destinations in search of diving adventures, but some are unaware of the fabulous adventures on their doorstep. A kaleidoscope of colour awaits those with the sense of adventure to dive our coast. If they’re lucky, they might encounter big animals like seals and dolphins or even basking sharks while travelling on the boat, but it is the smaller underwater residents that are most captivating and are guaranteed on every dive.
Many divers may not immediately think of Ireland as a place they could dive. Very often their perception is that it is dark, devoid of colour and life or they are afraid it might be too cold.
All these fears are unfounded, the temperate sea around Ireland is one of the most productive in the world, the green water is rich in plankton, the foundation of all life in the sea. If you have never dived in Ireland before then you must try it, you will be amazed by the richness and diversity of marine life and blown away by the spectrum of colours on our reefs.
