The Elegant Anemone is a common anemone and are found all around the coast of Ireland. They are can be found on open rock surfaces often in very large numbers packed tightly together. They reproduce primarily by basal laceration and as a result of this a diver will notice large groups of the one colour variety. There are five colour varieties, bright pink or rose red, white, a bright plain orange disk with white tentacles, the rarest has a grayish disk with dull orange tentacles, and the most common colour is between brown, buff and orange often variegated. The tentacles are relatively long and up to 200 in number.
